Right on! Networking’s not to be taken lightly in this AI day and age, head in the sand, with a one bourbon, one scotch, and one beer attitude. My advice, don’t be John Lee Hooker (nor George Thorogood) on this one:

“She a-howlin’ about the front end network links; She’ll be lucky to get any back end network links; She ain’t gonna get none of it; So I stop in the local bar you know people …”

Ahem … do *NOT* do that … unless you can play the guitar, or banjo, really, really well! 8^b

Looking back at the Alexis Bjorlin chart in the piece on the Jericho3-AI switch really drives the point home ( https://www.nextplatform.com/2023/04/26/broadcom-takes-on-infiniband-with-jericho3-ai-switch-chips/ ), that when 20% to 60% of a model’s training time can be spent in networking alone, one needs the most performant network one can get!

Regarding market share, Cisco is losing shares of the switches market like Intel is losing shares to AMD and the bad news is that Arista has still a lot of shares to win.
Finally, talking about AMD… If AMD can sell a lot of MI325X/MI300X, and take some market share from NVIDIA, it’s a big win for Arista. People say that NVIDIA is way above everyone, but I see an interesting fight for innovation, pricing and stability for the next few years!
